Andrew Huberman, Ph.D.

Areas of Research

Bio

Andrew Huberman earned his Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of California, Davis. He then worked as an assistant professor of neurobiology and neuroscience. Huberman later discovered and published methods to enhance regeneration of damaged retinal neurons, contributing to partial recovery from blindness.

Currently, The Huberman Lab is focused on researching how neural functions affect various brain states, including how to achieve optimal physical and mental performance.

Huberman has also hosted his own highly reputable and acclaimed podcast The Huberman Lab Podcast, since 2021. In these immensely informative and entertaining lectures, Huberman presents scientific findings and explains how the brain and nervous system affect our health and behaviours. These presentations provide practical and actionable insights which help the listener understand how various neuroscience principles can be applied to influence their own habits and behaviours.

After a peak, the level of dopamine drops below baseline. The extent to which it drops is proportional to how high the peak was.

This explains why doing the same behaviours will not produce the same level of joy.
